A Coming Book and Missions Series on Real Life and Fighting Spiritual Battles Behind Enemy Lines
Born Into War
The War is Real. Imagine This.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.Bible, 1 John 3: 8
Wait! Are you telling me that Jesus came to Planet Earth to “destroy the works of the Devil?” That’s what the Bible says and it’s pretty clear. All through the Bible, it’s pretty clear God is at war with Satan and that we too are at war once we are born into this world.
So, what if God is real and He created the universe? What if He created you? What if the stories of cosmic and spiritual battles are true? What then?
If you knew these things were true, would it change how you live today? Would you be inclined to go to church? Church? You might ask what would church have to do with the battles we can not see? Did God design the local church to be the outpost for Christians still living in the world in these days? Are these the last days? What if they are?
Some of this just seems crazy – really off the charts crazy. Yet, we all see things we can not explain and somehow, deep in our hearts, we know we are not alone and that there is “something more.” Right? Tell me you haven’t felt this way in your life journey.
Based on my years of life and experience, I am 100% sure there is something more. I am sure that the Bible is true and that we can trust the God of the universe. i am 100% sure that Jesus Christ was here on this earth where we live and that he was killed and that he three days later rose from the dead.
But, check this out… why does it even matter?
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3: 8) We are at war – and we can’t act as if we are not… so, now what?
Enemy occupied territory – that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Reconnaissance Report “Sir, we’ve finished our assessment. The warriors are … Continue reading Born Into War: If I Were A Leader in The Lord’s Resistance
To the young, I would whisper that the Bible is a myth. I would convince the children that man created God instead of the other way around. I’d confide that what’s bad is good and what’s good is square. 1964, Paul Harvey In 1964, Paul Harvey published and recorded his now famous short essay entitled … Continue reading Born into War: If I Were the Devil’s War Planner
Let’s close out this introduction with a brief look at Jesus and his actions and his claim. In this short few moments in the temple in Nazareth, Jesus made it pretty clear that he had the answer to all of our issues. In fact, he is the answer to all of our issues. From poverty and brokenness, to liberating those who are held captive and oppressed. I wonder how much we Christians actually believe this beyond our entertainment culture. Here’s what Jesus said:
So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4: 16-21 NKJV)
